FAQs
Most frequent questions and answers
Between 1 and 3 hours to summit.
All ages and fitness levels climb Croagh Patrick. So it is up to you to figure out if you want to go all the way to the summit.
It’s a moderate to strenuous hike so doable but fairly difficult in places. The tricky upper slopes require good fitness and flexibility (and a head for heights!).
There are three general sections as you ascend Croagh Patrick. The first section will take you from the car park to the shoulder or shelf of the mountain. The second section is not as hard as it takes you along the shoulder of the mountain to the base of the upper slope. The final section is the start of a huge pyramid-shaped mountain top covered in loose scree (stones and rocks), which makes for tough climbing. You can choose how far up you want to go with our guides allocated to different sections.
Hiking boots are a must particularly for the rocky/uneven parts of the climb. Wet Gear is essential along with extra clothing layers, water bottle and sunscreen. We will provide a full packed lunch and refreshments on the day.
We will provide transport there and back from Breaffy House Hotel. Transfer time to Croagh Patrick is approx 35 minutes.
Single occupancy is a double room.
The accommodation for the retreats are in luxury hotel rooms, not lodges on the grounds of the hotel as we had been using previously. This is to ensure we can practice safe social distancing.
